summer learning journey

This Poem Is Called In Flanders Fields. This Poem Made Me Feel Happy And Sad I Love This Poem Because I Have Heard It Before I Think The First Time I Heard It I Felt More Sad. Also It Made Me Feel The Pain Of The Soldiers. Did You Know My Grandad Drove The Food Trains In The War. It Made Me Feel Happy Because I Am Glad We Don't Have War Here.

  1. Kia ora Daniel,

Great work explaining how the poem made you sad because you could feel the pain of the soldiers, but happy because we don't have war in New Zealand anymore. I know that typing on the computer is different and a bit more fun than writing with a pencil, but remember which kids of words start with capital letters. Every word or just words at the start of a sentence and names of people and places? Tip: you get faster without having to type a capital letter for every word too!! :)

This poem also made me feel sad. I know that a lot of men and women risked their lives so that we could live in peace today. You must be very proud of your Grandad and all his work he did during the war! It would have been a hard time back then.

Great blogging, Daniel! I look forward to reading more of you blog posts.

    Noho ora mai,
    Emiely :)

  2. Hey Daniel,

My name is Megan and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team commenting on your posts this summer holidays.

You have done an incredible job describing how you are feeling after reading the Flander's Fields poem. I would agree with you that I feel very sad and honored that our ancestors fought for our freedom. I have been inspired to honour these men and women on the 25th April at a dawn service. Do you know what the day is called where we celebrate these amazing people on the 25th April?

Wow, how cool is it that your Granddad used to drive the food trains in the war. Has your family shared any stories with us that your Granddad may have passed down? I, too, have a family member that was involved in the war. My Great Granddad used to fly a fighter plane in World War 2. On the last day of the war he was captured as a prisoner and managed to escape when he heard the siren ending the war. I feel very proud to hear incredible stories like this.

Thank you for doing another awesome activity. It is awesome reading your work when you put in so much effort.

    Enjoy your day,
    Megan :)
